CBIC: Aadhaar Authentication Mandatory

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has made Aadhaar authentication mandatory for key personnel of firms.

Proprietor, partner karta, managing director, whole-time director and authorized signatory will have to furnish Aadhaar for revocation or cancellation of registration or refund of integrated goods and services tax (GST) paid on goods exported from India.

As per a new rule inserted in the Central GST Act through a notification on Saturday, the board specified that the GST refund would only be paid in the account if the taxpayer that has been obtained on his permanent account number (PAN).

The notification said that if the Aadhaar number has not been assigned to the person required to undergo authentication, then either of the documents- Aadhaar enrolment ID slip, bank passbook with photograph, voter identity card, passport or driving license can be submitted.  S-ET
