The government also extended a host of deadlines to ease compliance burden on individuals as well as business. Deadline for PAN Aadhaar linking has been extended to September 30 from earlier date of June 30.

The government also extended certain compliance deadlines including payments for Vivad Se Vishwas settlement cases and equalisation levy. Last date for payment of tax without additional amount under Vivad Se Vishwas has been extended August 31 from earlier deadline of June 30. With the additional amount the last date has been set as October 31, The CBDT notified the dates separately.

Time limit for processing equalisation levy returns has been extended to September 30, from earlier deadline of June 30.

Equalisation levy statement for FY21 can be filed by July 31 instead of June 30.

“In view of the impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic, taxpayers are facing inconvenience in meeting certain tax compliance and also in filing response to various notices. In order to ease the compliance burden of taxpayers during this difficult time, reliefs are being provided,”the CBDT said.

Deadline for completion of assessment proceedings, completion of penalty proceedings, registration of charitable trusts and institutions for income tax exemption have also been extended. S-ET
