Nora Fatehi to be ED witness in Rs 200 cr. money-laundering case

Bollywood diva Nora Fatehi, who was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Rs 200 crore money-laundering cases, is likely to turn witness for the prosecution in the matter against conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.

The ED, which has been questioning Fatehi along with another Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez in the money-laundering case, submitted its charge sheet recently where it revealed that both actresses had received expensive gifts from the conman.
In its charge sheet filed before a Delhi court, ED claimed that Chandrasekhar had gifted a BMW car to Fatehi in December 2020 and later gave her Rs 75 lakh, besides other expensive gifts. In her statement to ED, Fernandez revealed that she received three designer bags from Gucci and Chanel, two Gucci gym wear outfits, a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet of multi- colored stones and two Hermes bracelets.

The ED has named Fatehi and Fernandez as witnesses in the case in the charge sheet, which reportedly consists of around 7,000 pages, including several annexures.
News agency IANS reported quoting sources that Fatehi had told the agency that it was free to seize the BMW car gifted to her by Chandrasekhar. Fernandez, too, expressed similar thoughts. IANS also reported that ED is likely to attach the possessions under section 5 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act once the filing of the charge sheet was complete.

During questioning, both actresses claimed that they didn’t know that the accused was a conman.
The ED is also probing the role of Chandrasekhar’s wife Leena Maria Paul, a Bollywood starlet, who has been named as main accused in the charge sheet.
Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing had earlier registered an FIR against Chandrasekhar for allegedly duping the spouses of former promoters of Ranbaxy, Shivinder Singh, and Malvinder Singh, of Rs 200 crore.
